Every generation has their favorite swashbuckler, and there are pirate costumes that transform mild-mannered husbands and boyfriends into sexy rogues.
As with most famous movies, The “Pirates of the Caribbean” series gives us a wide variety of choices for mens costumes. The first – and most obvious – is Captain Jack Sparrow. Good or bad, pirates are basically thieves and Jack is no exception. He uses his sly mind and exceptional swordsmanship to try and find treasure and booty, but is constantly foiled! Johnny Depp captured the pirate with a heart of gold to a tee. What a shot in the arm for increasing the demand for adult pirate costumes!
When you purchase a Caribbean Pirate Costume you are sure to be the hit of the Halloween party!
My fascination started with the classic book “Treasure Island ” by Robert Louis Stevenson. The great adventures experienced by the narrator Jim Hawkins and the pirate ringleader Long John Silver whet my imagination and the movie version just reinforced my idea that a pirates life was for me! Since then movies and TV shows featuring Buccaneers and Pirates, both male and female have been captivating for me.
Other characters abound in movies like “Peter Pan”. Captain Hook and his henchman Smee wear classic mens Halloween costumes.
A real meanie to start with, the Captain was made even meaner by the crocodile that bit off his hand and forced him to wear a hook. His stylish outfits represent the flamboyant nature that many pirates seem to have.
You can’t go wrong when you Buy a Stylish Captain Hook or Lesser Pirate Costume!
Mens Halloween Pirate Costumes can be as simple as a skull and crossbones bandana, an eye patch and a puffy shirt or as elaborate as an exact replica of your favorite scallywag. Plumed tricorner hats, big black boots, a cutlass and scabbarded knife just add to the total illusion.
Make sure to order early to purchase your favorite swashbuckling characters and accessories this Halloween!
Another growing Halloween trend in recent years has been for couples to dress up in complementing costumes. As similar characters, Pirate-Piratess or Handsome Pirate and Sexy Damsel-in-Distress. In some cases the sexier the clothing the better, especially if you want to win 1st prize in the Halloween party contest!

I don’t know how many of you remember the 50′s, but there seemed to be a lot of pirate movies. Here is a short list I remember seeing in my local cinema growing up. Not in first release of course.:)
Against All Flags: 1952 – Errol Flynn and Maureen O’Hara
One of the first movie I remember seeing as a preteen, this action-packed pirate film had classic men’s costumes, some great swords and cutlasses to give you a good idea about what buccaneer accessories are needed.
Barbary Pirates: 1949 – Donald Wood and Trudy Marshall
This film introduced me to what went on along North Africa’s Barbary Coast around the 1800s. Americans get involved in trying to stop a group of marauding pirates. The sword play is sub par, but hey, this is a good hour of entertainment.
Blackbeard the Pirate: 1952 – Robert Newton
Legend suggests there never was and never will be another pirate like Blackbeard. Working the American coast from his North Carolina base, he put fear in the hearts of many merchants using the shipping lanes. His cutthroat reputation may have been overblown, but if you want to put together a Halloween pirate costume, be sure to wear plenty of swords and pistols- and of course a full black beard – if Blackbeard is your choice!
